Slideshow won't work on preview
I have downloaded a series of JPEG files, but when I open the first one in Preview and select the slideshow, the pictures will not advance.

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to view pictures as a slideshow in the Preview app as expected. To help with this, please make sure all of the downloaded pictures are combined in a single Preview window, then start the slideshow in View > Slideshow and then use the left or right arrows on your keyboard to move between pictures, or the on screen arrows, and here is more info:
