Interactive to-do list for MacBook

I'm trying to make a to-do list for my MacBook Desktop. Is there something similar to the notes app for iPhone? I want to be able to check items off as they are completed. I've been on the search for hours.

My top feature requests for the Apple Notes App in 2021 I love Apple Notes, and I'm using it every day, but the lack of certain features prevents me from using it as my only app for digital note-taking. Following are my top 5 requested features for Apple Notes. A version history within every note and the ability to recover deleted content in the timeline (like in Simplenote). Alternatively I could live with a "read-only" mode so at least you can't accidentally delete some text. Ability to tag notes and use these tags for organizing notes as an alternative structure to the hierarchical folders (again, like in Simplenote). By the way, Apple already supports a similar feature in Finder on the Mac for any file. This would help me so much for better organization. Perhaps they could also implement some sort of automatically suggested tags using Machine Learning. A fully featured and better performing web version of Apple Notes. Right now, the performance of the web version is horrible and unusable for me. Also, it lacks many basic features like inserting pictures, etc. Apple should really start taking their web version more seriously or discontinue it. PDFs and Pictures as attachment and NOT printed out (like it's possible in OneNote, for example). A better handwriting experience comparable to Notability or GoodNotes. This includes the ability to zoom in and out when in handwriting-mode, advanced selection tool options like changing the size, more formatting options, and more writing tools (e.g., thicker and thinner pens), vector ink, and generally a more responsive handwriting experience. Open multiple Notes at once? Is there any way to open multiple notes at once using the Notes app for Mac/Iphone etc? Using MacOS Big Sur. I have read somewhere to dubble click the note, but as you do - nothing happens, the note is still just showing in the main window. Been using Evernote through work for a while and it´s quite handy to be able to keep multiple notes open at ones for editing/comparing/read multiple notes at ones, (having a index list of projects in one note (separate window), and be able to search for and open the specific project notes in another. As of now it seems like I only can search and open one note at a time. Seems bizarre if this wouldn´t be possible, seems like a easy fix and pretty basic function to right click and choose "open in new window" or likewise. Anyone knows a solution?

Scan docs in notes. How do you scan docs in notes? I can’t see the little camera icon just above the keyboard that enables you to scan doc. In fact I see no other options like highlight etc. How do get the options to appear just above the keyboard? In particular the camera icon so I can scan docs?

There is a Notes App on you Mac as well.
