Apple iPad

I cannot activate my iPad. Here is the message that appears on my screen:

"Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPad to ITunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. " If this problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support

I have been trying several times, but have had no success in activating my iPad. Please help me. Thank you.
