AirPods Pro static sounds

My AirPods Pro make static sounds every time I cough or clear my throat, but only in Transparency and Noise Cancelling mode, so I assume it's mic related.

Apple support has been so limited lately, chat disconnected, and for about a week or longer (lost track) chat hasn't even been an option.

I recently discovered that the static issue does not exist when the AirPods Pro are not set to Noise Cancelling or Transperency (and the sound quality is actually pretty good without either sound filter on) so I assume the mic is the problem?

I spent $250, but bought them at Best Buy a few months ago.

I spent too much money on these things for them to not work fully, and I was getting a lot of use out of the noise cancelling, and occasionally transparency.
