Turn the screen and it should rotate, if not, go to the control centre, which can be accessed by swiping down on the top right hand side of the screen and there should be a lock symbol press that and it removes the auto lock

If running an iPad with iPadOS 13, place a finger at the top right corner of the iPad and swipe your finger downward to reveal the iOS Control Centre.

Look for a button with an icon that has a circular arrow inside of it with a picture/image of a padlock inside of the circular arrow.

If this button appears red, tap on it once to release the screen rotation lock and your iPad's screen should rotate freely, now.

Be advised that some apps, mostly iPhone apps on iPad, may not be able to rotate.

Without details of your iPad model and installed version of iOS/iPadOS, it is difficult to provide a definitive answer.

However, if your screen rotation is locked to either Landscape or Portrait mode, in recent versions of iOS/iPadOS, you can access the Rotation Lock from the Control Centre. Swipe downwards from the extreme top-right corner of the screen to reveal the Control Centre - and here you will find the Rotation Lock:

If you have an older model iPad with a physical side-switch on the edge of the iPad, this switch is configurable and may control your Rotation Lock. If so, flip the switch to the opposite position.
