Disabled iPad

I have a mini iPad that I haven’t charged/been on for over a year at least. When I plugged it in and it became charged the lock screen said “this iPad is disabled for 25,000,000 hours”!! I did some research and found some youtube videos that suggested hooking it up to a laptop and pulling up iTunes. I selected “restore” and then “update & restore”. It pulled up one last tab with 3 choices including “Eject”, “Update”, and “Restore”. It would not let me select the update or restore but at the top of the tab it said it would restore the iPad once it is finished downloading. It then stops and a tab pops up saying iTunes can’t connect to the iPad because it is locked with a password!!!! Oh my gosh help!
