W lan rather than wifi

On my iphone made in china, the name w lan appears everywhere that wifi should appear, is it normal?

Why this happens?

Yes, thats its, the only change it'ts on the name, but it's the same thing both words.

Afaik WLan is the technic and WiFi is the service. Both stand for the same thing.
