why is my edit not rendering and if so where the " " is it putting it

Using MacBook pro 2013 Catalina 10.15 .4 Fcp 10.48

Thought i had used Final cut to do a couple of short items before , but maybe not . Have edited what I want to do, and want to render to a file on my hard drive, so later i can included in article I have written.

Am using a main sequence ,and then masking part of another over. from another channel, Successfully done but cant get it to usefully render

Have added start and end markers ,then pressed render all .from them on nothing happen.reading through the blurb it seems that it renders in the background ,but I don't seem to know where.

Have looked in downloads,and found backups, but no playable edit. Ploughed through preferences but still cant find where, if anywhere its been rendered to

Why are you rendering? What is the format of your media? Are you trying to share/export the project? Use the Share button in the upper right of the FCP window.

I if the I thought that would be obvious, I’m rendering as I want a usable format that I can store on my hard drive as permanent copy that won’t change. disappear etc if the mix I’m creating edition disappears if I move any of the original

material is lost or moved

Need to store as one of the popular formats Av, mp4, QuickTime etc as at the

moment as still as a edited mix on FCP so not possible to use for anything

practical.it may be as I seem to get from the faq that it is rendering for me in

the background ,however I don’t know where

Ok have found a 'share button' that in my blundering learning, I hadn't randomly pushed to see what happens, as often this does something that is none reversible .

I would have thought that as sharing, if that's what its called would be something you would always need to do .so why not call it render , save, export and make it a big button that you will always need had the same problem with blade as in others I have used its called cut,the same with delete ,,as their is no delete on dropdown ,took be a couple of hours to work out just to use the delete button

thanks for your help can now continue without filling my hard drive with endless backups
