Charging ding wakes me up

It's still happening. About two hours into charging while sleeping, my iPhone likes to wake me up with a ding (same sound as when I plug into the charger). Connections are clean and with either charger that came with my iPhones. I run over to it, no message. Battery is either at 100% or one time was 98%. I pretty much can no longer charge while sleeping. Any outlet in my room does not matter. If power went out, I would have noticed an alarm clock in the room reset or my loud fan shutting off. Unless the power interruption was milliseconds, but would it ding with a such a short interruption? I doubt it. Every night?

It only dings when charging starts. Most likely you are getting brief power interruptions, so charging starts over. Unless you are using a non-Apple-approved power source that shuts down when the phone reaches full charge. These do exist.

Both charges came with the phone. Even a slight power interruption would trigger the touch-on lights I have in my dinning room. They go on sometimes in storms when there is the slightest glitch. I would say this is not the case. There are a lot of people complaining about this issue. Two hours after charging, every night sounds like an unlikely coincidence to be a power glitch. Central AC turning on (or off) maybe? If so, Apple needs to add a charging time delay for power glitches. Maybe 500mSec.

In the past almost 12 years no iOS device of the 10 that my family have owned including the 4 we have currently has ever pinged during the night unless there was a power failure. So I suspect it is a problem in your environment.

I’m sure it happens to some people, but with 1.5 BILLION devices out there, no matter what issue you have someone else is bound to have it.

Plugged in at 10pm last night. Got a ding at 11:17 pm and woke me up.

No alarm clocks, microwave or stove clocks flashing to indicate a power interruption.

No touch-on/off lights in house on.

I wonder is these new digital power meters outside the house are transmitting signals to the electric company and the iPhone glitches every night at the same time. Power interruptions are very rare in my neighborhood. All underground lines and close to the substation.

There is a trick to not get a ding if the camera is on, but that doesn't work after the screen sleeps. Maybe I can set it to never sleep.

But I would sure like to know how how long an interruption has to be for the iPhone detects it. It must be fast. (and they should change that!) When first plugging in, I can plug and unplug within a half second and get no chime. But once plugged in for a second, and the ding sounds, I cannot get it not to ding by unplugging and plugging fast.

I have an emergency power/car starter that has a USB output. I will try charging with that.
