Apple Questionable legal practices - Help please!
Hi there! I originally purchased this device in November 2016. In March 2017, the USB ports stopped working, and a few weeks after, the device stopped charging or turning on. As I Live in Australia, and the device was purchased in the UK, we had to take the device to the uk for service under consumer law. The service was performed in November 2019. The repair took longer than our stay in the UK, and the device was brought back to Australia with our relatives who were here on holiday in January 2020. About 3 months ago (February 2020) , the USB ports on my MacBook stopped working, shortly after, the device stopped charging, and then stopped turning on. I made a call to apple in Australia to see if there was anything that they could do. The device was given a repair exemption, and repaired by an AASP in Perth Western Australia. The AASP tried multiple times, and after being unable to solve the problem, they suggested I call apple for an alternative solution. I was told by Apple Australia to call Apple UK and get a replacement under consumer law. After doing so, and seeking advice from Citizen's Advice UK, Apple Negotiated the Replacement of my 2015 15" MBP with a 16" MacBook Pro. Under UK Consumer law, if one attempt is made on a device and It fails, I am entitled to a replacement device or a refund. I checked to make sure that my device would 100% be replaced and not repaired, and was told as such. As such, I paid shipping for my MacBook back to the UK. The device was received by a relative in the UK, and I submitted a mail in request. the device was then posted the device to apple in the mail-in box, and a repaired device was returned to them. As I negotiated for a replacement and not a repair, I am looking for this device to be replaced or refunded. Preferably replaced. Apple have told me to contact multiple ADR companies who have all told me they do not deal with Apple. If this is necessary, I will be taking this to court, but for obvious (mostly financial) reasons, would rather not. If there's anyone out there who's had the same / similar issues, or can give me advice, please let me know!
Thanks everyone!
