Unable to access/add my gmail account after changing my password from my phone.

I am running on Yosemite, I changed the password to my gmail account from my phone. Shortly after I realized that Mac Mail would not allow me to send or receive messages. I keep getting a prompt to update the password for this account. I deleted the gmail account off of my mac mail, and tried to add it again later in order to circumvent the problem. It did not work, as I now cannot add my gmail account back on. I cannot get to the screen to add the password the dialog box just continues to buffer. I also tried to add the account using the other mailbox option. This yielded the same results.

Hello,

Mail for macOS 10.10 Yosemite does not support the modern Gmail login. You will either need to update to a newer version of macOS (I believe 10.11 El Capitan supports it) or access Gmail from their website.
