iPhone XS earpods mic not working during calls

Whenever i make or receive a call with earpods plugged in, the person who i am talking to, cannot hear me if i speak into earpod’’s mic. I have to use the mic on the phone to make myself audible.

However if i remove and re-plug the earpods while in call, the mic works fine. Please fix it apple.

Caller can't hear me when I use lightning earpods and my phone is in my pocket When I receive or make a call with my headphones attached to the phone (iPhone7 with lightning connector), the phone is still getting the sound from the phone's microphone, so caller can't hear me if my phone is in the packet. Airpods and phone calls when i make or answer a phone call wearing my airpods i can hear the call but the caller can’t hear me. The microphone component seems to not be working. They have never worked from new I have forgotten the device and reconnected a dozen times with no success. I am using an iPhone 12 Pro running 15.3.1 and using airpods model A1523 version 6.8.8
