iPhone 6S Plus, iOS 13.4.1 - I have no sound alert when I receive texts. Notifications are turned on, volume is on high, Do Not Disturb is turned off. Not sure what else to try. I've also turned the phone on and off several times. What else can I do?

Also check the Mute switch on the side of the phone. It needs to be towards the screen to be unmuted, or towards the back of the phone, with a red/orange color showing to be on Mute. That will mute all sounds.

Are you sure you don't have "hide alerts" checked on inside the chat?
is it only for texts or 3rd party apps as well?
That was it! I feel foolish, because I didn't look there first, but my phone cover is over that, and I had set it to unmute a while ago. It must have gotten hit somehow, because when I removed the cover it was switched to mute. Thanks!
