Lost Folder

I had a folder on my desktop that I was keeping all of working .PSD files in while I worked on various projects. As I worked on each PSD I saved it to that same folder on my desktop and chose to store it on my computer and not in iCloud. Well, the folder is now gone.

In Photoshop, I can see the files I worked on in the recent files area, but when I click on them, it says the file can not be found. The I checked the path of the PSD's and it shows that they were indeed saved to a folder on my desktop. The folder is not in my iCloud drive and I know that I didn't delete the folder. The folder is the only item missing from my desktop. All other files are intact.

I can't figure it out. Is there anything else to try?

"Lost Folder: The files are there in the "Open Recent" option but when I go to open them it says the file can not be found."

The file(s) has obviously been moved. So, ...

A. View "Where":

  1. Right-Click: on the file's icon
  2. Click: Get Info...
  3. View: General tab
  4. View: Where pane

What does it so? - Any location?

B. Is it in the Trash?

Click on the Trash icon and see if it is visible in there. If so, remove it, and access It from there.

C. Migration Assistant:

Any recent Time Machine Backups? If so, use Migration Assistant to move the File(s) back in.

As a Last Resort... Contact Adobe:

Contact Adobe, and see what they have to say about items being lost/relocated. Also, check for updates from them. Behaps this is a bug in Adobe, that they have fixed using an update.

  1. Go Here: Customer Service - Adobe Support
  2. Click: Chat icon (bottom-right corner)

Two Thoughts:

A. Open Recent Items:

See if there is an option for "Open Recent" option in the File menu. It may be worded in different ways.

  1. Open: the Application
  2. Go to: File menu
  3. Select: "Open Recent" option
  4. Open: the file

B. Use "Save As...":

If it pops up, discover where it is stored, by using "Save As.."

  1. Open: the Application
  2. Go to: File menu
  3. Click: Save as...
  4. View: where it is is shown
