Unwanted Facetime Calls

Last year I started receiving facetime calls from a number I didn't recognize and from an email I didn't recognize either. These calls would come at random times, ring once or twice then stop and it would say "answered on another device." I even tried to answer once and it showed me a blank screen and then hung up. Finally we answered it another time and a lady picked up saying she was trying to call her sister. We tried calling back and got through and got the same story. Finally it all stopped, this was from Feb 2019-May2019. Then in December I got another one, same thing. Finally I changed my number changed my email new Apple ID all that jazz. Then last night at 1:00 am I received a Facetime audio call from that same number AGAIN! It was little kids this time and then they hung up. I have been desperately seeking answers on this, I never gave out my new email or phone to anyone but trusted people so how did this number get my new info? I don't understand I just want it all to stop. Please help!!!

You can block unwanted FaceTime calls directly thru your iPhone settings.

Go to settings, click FaceTime, (Make sure that under the section where it says ‘you can be reached at ‘ you uncheck your previous number from the list), at the bottom under the calls section it should say blocked contacts. Click that. At the bottom of the list it should say add new in blue text. Click that and add that number to the list.

remember to uncheck your old number as a way to be contacted because it will be forwarded to your current number

Hey there JTBatts,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you have some concerns about FaceTime calls coming in from unknown contacts and it being answered on another device. I’ll be happy to help with this.

In most cases, when this occurs, this is because the contact reaching out to you over FaceTime has your number or email in their contact card incorrectly. When they try another number or email from the same contact card, it looks from your device as if it was answered on another device.

If you are concerned about the security of your Apple ID, you may want to review this link for some tips that can help:

If you haven’t already, set up two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security:

Hey JTBatts,

It’s hard to determine how they got this info but if you do have any concerns about your account, follow the steps above to make sure your account is secure and not compromised. You can also use the steps in this link to verify what devices your account is signed into. You can then remove your account from any device you don’t recognize:

Check your Apple ID device list to see where you're signed in

Take care.

Maybe a third person got the account info of the person who denies that they called you, and is pretending to be them just to cause them trouble. Your issues would be collateral damage.

It's one theory, anyway.

That doesn't seem to help. I received these random facetime calls from someone. Then I changed my Apple ID and my number and deleted my old ID and then a get another facetime call from this same person out of nowhere. I have no connection to my old number (except that my son uses that number now on his phone) and I have no connection to the Apple ID anymore. My phone does not have my new number or Apple ID but yet I still am receiving these calls! I contacted the police and they said there is nothing they can do. They called the person and they claimed they never called me but I have proof they did. It's ruining my life!!!

I did but nobody in my contacts has the number. I am in PA and the number is a PA number but owned by someone in Florida. I have no clue who it is besides Googling the number. I don’t know how they got my first number and even worse how they got my second number. I contacted my police who called the number and they claimed they never called me but I can prove otherwise. I just want this to stop and find out how they got my info.
