Can I use an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter to connect to my 2017 5k Retina iMac to play my Xbox One on?

Yeah I saw those but I don't have a mini-display or a lightning bolt. Just USB-C.

I found this - so now I know I can't use my Retina as a target display: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/use-an-imac-as-a-display-mh30822/mac

What I stupidly forgot was that I also have a Thunderbolt Display... so maybe I can use an HDMI-to-Thunderbolt to make this work...
