Can't scan barcode on iPhone 6

I have tried to use the free app BarcodeScanner to scan a barcode. The box appears and it appears to scan, but it never stops scanning, and there is no image of the barcode. I have also followed instructions online for using the Camera to scan. The box appears, but it never actually scans.

Is my phone too old to scan?
