I was able to update the ios software of my iphone but been noticing that it now frequently gets hot when being used. Also, it sometimes is lagging specially when attaching photos and using viber.
appreciate if there are any fix to this.

Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

Before updating to the latest iOS 13.4.1 as told on your post what was your earlier iOS version. Then you can look into the iOS changes that has happened between the earlier version on your iPhone and this new version that you have updated now.
This will give you a broader idea of the issue, if it is directly linked to the iOS version or is triggered by something else.
Previously it was 13.4 only. The unit gets hot when videos is played. Also, when charging, it stops at 80%.
