Email with blank subject line sent to yahoo account shows automatic text on iPad mail app

Hello all,

‘just started to notice that the subject line for emails addressed to yahoo a/c are being populated automatically on receipt in inbox on iPad.

Here is the jist:

  • email is composed on iPad, iPhone, or web browser and addressed to yahoo account with a blank subject
  • when email is sent, get warning there is no subject do you still want to send - I pick send
  • when email arrives in mail app on iPad the email now has a populated subject line even though was sent with none

this happens only on ipad mail app not iPhone.

I have logged into yahoo account via browser and same email has blank subject line.

tested on other iPad and iPhone devices in household and all iPad email apps exhibit this oddity not iPhones.

anyone have any ideas.

I have checked autocomplete settings, signatures, rebooted, deleted yahoo a/c and re-added, etc. etc and nothing seems to fix this. The subject is not a link to anything, I copied and pasted in browser and nothing. All devices are up to date with latest iOS and app updates. This is occurring only with iPad email app. And with this one yahoo account.

any help would be great - last resort is to delete the yahoo a/c entirely and create a new one - but hoping there is a setting I am missing somewhere.

cheers
