Ipad mini icloud lock

Hi everyone... A few year ago I was working in a hotel in London and someone forgot the ipad mini in the room when checked out, I've found in the room a give to lost and found department, after 6 months the owner didn't claimed back, so according to the hotel policy they give to the person who found, in this case it was me.

I tried to contact the owner it was a person from Brazil and we agreed to send by post but he never transfer the money for the post and I kept the ipad until he replied my emails but I didn't get any response since then, even I try to ask him if he doesn't want the ipad but at least to unlock the icloud but again no response... So this last days I was packing some stuff to give to charity and I was thinking to give away the ipad but if is cloud locked doesn't make sense to give to someone.... What should I do? Rubbish?

Hello,

The iPad is locked with Activation Lock. There is no way around unlocking Activation Lock without inserting the device’s associated Apple ID. Since it sounds like you are unable to contact the previous owner and since you are not the original owner of this iPad then there is nothing you, or Apple, can do to unlock this iPad. Your only option is to recycle the iPad.
