I need the driver for external microphone.

I am actually trying to do with my macbook what I did very successfully with a pentium PC 20 years ago and my stereo. That is to convert cassette tapes to mp3 files. Maybe any manufacture of microphone driver will work. I downloaded Microwave Audio Editor to my macbook, which looks as good as Audio Catalyst that I used to use in my PC. It's kind of a race between getting the macbook working to do this or the PC. I still have everything I need from 20 years ago but am looking for a sound card for the PC.
