Cannot create a backup of my iPhone

I would like to backup my iPhone7S before I start using my new iPhone11. I have two mac's, one running OSXMojave, the other running OSXCatalina. I've tried using iTunes to create the backup on the Mojave Mac, and Finder to create the backup on the Catalina Mac. Just like Apple recomends.


On BOTH Macs the first screen displayed when connecting the iPhone7s to the computers is the same. It offer two choices only:


  1. Set up a new iPhone.
  2. Restore the iPhone from an old backup.


There is NO choice to create a new backup so I can transfer my information to the new phone. Backing up to the cloud is not an option for me.


My brand new iPhone11 remains in its box!


I remember a time when Apple products were reliable.

Choose Set up as a new phone. It will not delete any data on the phone.
