Macbook Pro 16 Weird Sound when the MacBook is under stress.

When my Macbook Pro 16 (Base model, Catalina 10.15.4) under stress, like loading OS, Benchmarks or another hard work in makes strange, weird noises.

The sound is not very loud, but clearly audible, like clicking and squeezing (sounds like an old HDD drive under pressure), and sounds coming from approximately behind the keyboard (not from speakers or fan system).

The sound appeared two months after the date of purchase.

Apple Hardware Test Utility did not show any problems.

I used the computer very carefully. I tried reinstalling the system, but that did not help.

I will be grateful for any advice to solve this problem.

There are several posts regarding an annoying other noise some call "Coil Whine" This seems to happen when one or two processors go on Turbo Boost, at much higher frequency that normal.

The work-around is a trade-off. Use a third-party Utility to disable Turbo Boost.

Turbo Boost ONLY occurs when the processor chip is lightly loaded anyway (it can not be used when many processors are active) so lack of Turbo Boost is generally not noticeable in real-world tasks.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities Volgin_Kirill,

I see that you're hearing a strange sound coming from your MacBook Pro. I can understand your concern, and I'd be happy to look into this with you.

Let's begin by having you start your mac in safe mode and test to see if the issue persists. The article below will guide you through those steps, if needed.

How to use safe mode on your Mac

If the issue persists, create a test user on your Mac and test one more time.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know how this goes and if you notice any changes.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I have this problem also. I have been on to apple several times about it. At this stage I have excluded everything SW related - including the above. I even notice the noise (clicking from behind the keyboard) when diagnostics is running (i.e. without the OS even having loaded). Up to now I have avoided leaving it in for a HW fix as I will struggle to do without it but have run out of all other options at this stage. Very frustrated!

Thanks but this is not it either. My noise is a very definitive clicking. And it happens most when the machine is under stress / hot i.e. the opposite of what you say above about turbo boost. Anything that involves putting the machine through it's paces kicks it off. If I run a benchmark test (e.g. Geekbench 5) the clicking starts about half way through. when I am playing multiple tracks in Logic or Studio One (or especially when I am bouncing to mixdown) the clicking starts. And it's not coming through the speakers / is not interrupting the audio. It appears to be coming from somewhere within the case.
