big slowdown and many spinning pizzas since upgrade to Catalina

I upgraded to OS Catalina about a month ago, and am still facing a significant slowdown in most apps on my MacBook, with spinning pizzas or beachballs that make frequent appearances. Any suggestions on what to do to overcome this?

Thank you.

In many cases installing what is known as a ‘Combo’ update will solve remaining issues. Combo updates reinstall every change made since the original release, sort of like a complete refresh.

Battery failure - Your battery is reporting that it needs to be serviced.

There is a reason EtreCheck classifies it as a "major issue". A battery that needs to be serviced will cause a Mac to perform poorly. Start here: Batteries - Service and Recycling - Apple

That's in addition to the many significant problems others already pointed out. Fix hardware before software. Until you do that nothing will work properly.

You still have lots of orphan files that you can clean up using Etrecheck.

Your drive is getting almost full, which can cause performance to degrade. And you also have plenty of system modifications, some of which are a bit old. You would probably benefit considerably by doing a full backup, a clean install and then migrating only the user accounts, and install only the applications you need. You still have a lot of 32-bit applications which are just sitting there wasting drive space.
