I have problem with my Mac mini late 2012 and Asus Rog XG49VQ

When I hook up my mac mini to xG49Vq I get a very poor resolution. The image is delay and I cannot change the resolution from 1080 p. Is it possible to change the resolution? I hooked via HDMI cable mac mini and XG49vq monitor.

The Late 2012 Mac Mini only supports displays up to 2560 x 1600

That Gaming monitor is 3840x1080

It might help a little if you were to use a Mini DisplayPort to Display Port cable instead of the HDMI cable.
