"This video is in a format that can't be streamed to this TV."

When I Airplay/mirror from my iPad to the AppleTV, it mirrors everything except the downloaded movies.

When I start to play a movie, an error message appears on the IPad

"This video is in a format that can't be streamed to this TV."

If I plug the Apple TV into a different TV, this does NOT occur, and everything works correctly.

Everything is up to date.

No internet at all!! And it's NOT required.

You need an internet connection to set up Apple TV, but not to use it. Obviously, it won't be able to access any on-line content when off-line. And it doesn't gracefully support storing content locally, so you'd need a network to access content.

What I am doing is peer-to-peer AirPlay to stream from my iPad/iPhone to the Apple TV.

Apple TV's use Bluetooth for discovery, and a point-to-point WiFi connection for data, no network is required.

I am NOT "entry level" here.

But this is all a mute point. The peer-to-peer is working fine, and it mirrors the iPad and iPhone correctly, EXCEPT the movies that are downloaded.

Again, this works on ALL the other TV's except this one.

The ONLY question I have for this support group is what causes the "This video is in a format that can't be streamed to this TV." As everything else mirrors fine. yes...without the unneeded internet,

Changed out the HDMI cable, no change.

Restarted all, no change.

I'm not using WiFi at all. This is in a non-network area. But all devices are updated.

This is all about direct mirroring/airplay from an Apple TV to the TV. Other TV's work, this one gives the error "This video is in a format that can't be streamed to this TV."

The movies are already resident on the iPad/iPhone devices. I tried both devices.

It's interesting that it's JUST this TV.

Thanks now I understand, please follow the troubleshooting steps in If you can't stream or watch movies or TV shows from the Apple TV app, iTunes Store, or third-party apps Note that many of the steps point to issues with the home network, please pay close attention to that and ensure your network is strong in all areas of your home. You can use a tool like iStumbler to measure the signal in each part of the home, if it is weaker where the TV that you are having trouble with then you may need to upgrade the network. Many people think because they have a "fast" network connection that also means it is strong throughout their home, that is WRONG!!! What that means is the network is fast where it enters the home and may get blocked by walls, furniture, etc. in a home. If that is the case you may be a candidate for a mesh network that covers the entire home.
