iPhone 11 apply pay reading cancelled on card reader

I purchased and iPhone 11 last week. Merged my iPhone8 to the iPhone11. With no issue. I then linked my credit card to Apple Pay. Transactions have been going through on line in iTunes/App Store... However, when using Apple Pay in store, the card reader will recognize the phone but immediately will read “cancelled” on the card reader. I’ve tried multiple readers and the same result. Anyone having the same issue?
