how to transfer data from old mac to new mac

I am buying a new MacBook Pro 13" and want to transfer the data from my old MacBook Pro bought in February 2013 (Apple products last!).

I was planning just to plug in my G Drive Mobile to the new computer and let it do the work through Time Machine.However this G Drive has been acting up with some strange behaviour and I am concerned it may be faulty and the transfer may not work.

Can anyone suggest an alternate way to set up the new computer if the transfer from the GDrive does not work?
