XR Facedown not working

XR Facedown not working

The facedown detection on my XR is not working. I have the Fitness Tracking ON. Have tried a Power on/off/on cycle. No change. I can text the phone while facedown and see that the display will turn on for the notification. When LCD is on, and I place the phone face down, the LCD goes off after about 15 seconds. Should it not go off right away?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand when putting the iPhone face down, notifications will still wake the screen. I'll do what I can to help.

Here are some suggestions:

Turn off Attention Aware feature and see if the behavior changes: About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro
Remove the software on the iPhone and add it back to make sure it's not software-related:

1. Back up your iPhone: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
2. Restore the iPhone to factory settings using a computer. Be sure to have any passwords available that you might need, including your Wi-Fi or Apple ID password: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
3. Set up the iPhone as new to test if the behavior still happens.

Worries me more to bugger up my phone with a factory reset then to see that my LCD does not immediately dim when I place my phone face down on a glass table. But thanks for your suggestion.
