pair google pixel with apple tv remote

how do you pair a google pixel to apple tv? the apple tv remotes that you download from google play will not pair. what am i doing wrong?

I don’t want Apple TV on the phone. I want Apple TV remote. I have Apple TV box hooked up to my tv and want to pair a remote app. I appreciate your willingness to respond, but if it’s not a solution, please don’t waste your time and energy or mine. Thanks.

I see, please use Apple TV Pair Bluetooth accessories and also Apple TV Remote App. However, please remember the Remote app is designed for IOS devices, not Google devices so you may be out of luck.

Why would you want to pair a Google cell phone to an Apple TV, it does not support AirPlay so you cannot stream content from the Phone to the Apple TV.
