Does deleting whatsapp message on iphone also delete it from icloud backup?

If I delete some whatsapp messages on iphone to free up space, then does it also delete these messages from icloud backup?

iPhone XS, iOS 13

The next time you do a backup the deleted message will be removed from the backup as well.
