I am no longer able to print on my Macbook Air from my HP Deskjet 1512 when connected using USB. I have not tried since fall of 2019, but when I used it then, it worked fine. Now it indicates it has started printing (showing 12% done), but then switches to message "waiting for printer to become available". My laptop is Running masOS Catalina 10.15.4

Thank you. Since losing the question, I found out than once I upgraded to Catalina, the HP Deskjet 1512 is no longer supported.😞

What a shame !! Have you tried Gutenprint (gimp-print.sourceforge.net). Alas, this is the only solution I know of right now. and even it says it may not work with Catalina.....
