I until yesterday was able to print from my MacBook Pro with my Canon MX470 series printer. Apparently the driver is no longer supported for my laptop. Which is really annoying because the printer is only 2 years old and I have just last week bought and fitted two new cartridges. Any know if it's possible to get a driver from a site that will work now...

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately for me, Apple don't support my printer now for AirPrint. I have tried all the links that are showing to install and or find my printer, but unfortunately again for me it won't allow me to put the printer name in, so it looks like I am going to need a new printer. I am thinking of the Epson EcoTank printers to serve my purposes. To be honest I don't use a printer that often, but when I do need to print something, it's always nice to know that I have a printer that works.

First uninstall both CleanMyMac and Sophos by following the developers' instructions. You do not need any AV or cleaning apps on a Mac. They usually cause more problems than they solve and they impact system performance.
If you still have problems, then power cycle your printer and re-add it to macOS. If you still have problems, then reboot your router (you may need to reboot the printer again to pick up new network settings).
Without knowing how your network is configured for all the devices you should try plugging the laptop directly into the router with an Ethernet cable to eliminate any possible WiFi issues with the laptop.
The Canon MX470 is an AirPrint capable printer so it is fully supported by macOS. Try resetting the printing system by using this Apple article:

Or delete the printer and start over by re-adding the printer by following this Apple article:

If you are running a recent version of macOS then either the AirPrint driver will work or macOS will download the necessary driver when you add the printer. If you are using a really old version of macOS, then you may need to go to the Canon website to download the necessary printer driver for that printer.
If you still have problems, then maybe you have some third party software installed which is interfering.
As I said your printer is supported either by macOS directly or by Canon since Canon does provide drivers.
Run EtreCheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. This will allow us to see if you have any third party software that may be interfering plus it will give us the exact model of your computer and version of macOS used.
Hi, I am also just tried to print from my iPad mini and my iPhone 6s. Both of which can't find my printer. I was able to print from all devices before. It seems that the AirPrint facility has stopped working on all of them..

It is connected to a router vis wifi. My partner also has her own iPad mini and iPhone 6s and they both can print from them. Don't know if this is relevant, but she also has a Windows 10 laptop and it will print from it.
I have put the password for the router into the printer, like I have before when I got the printer. So it should work shouldn't it...
AirPrint printers don't need any drivers on the Mac. They do not need a USB cable connection, either. If it's working via AirPrint (not using a Canon app) from some iPhones and iPads, then the printer is OK. If your Mac and iPhone can't see it, there must be some problem with their network settings.

Thank you for all your help. My printer is now back up and running again. But only on my MacBook, but i'am ok with that.
Thanks again, it's been a very stressful time trying to sort it myself. But with the helpful knowledge you and the other users have given me, I am now very happy that I don't need to buy another printer.

If both phone and computer printing stopped at the same time, it indicates a problem with the printer. Is it connected to a router, or is it using its own WiFi?
Try to see what's different between your iPhone and her iPhone. Are they showing the same WiFi networks?
Yes they are
I have also tried to find the printer in "find a printer" in system preferences. But when I put the model in the little window it just sits there.
I have even tired to go on to the Canon website and download the driver again, it did, but it won't open for me. Seems as though something is blocking it.
