Final Cut Pro and Spinning Beach Balls

Hello - I just got a new MacBook Pro 13", 2 Ghz i5, 16gb RAM. Trying the Final Cut Pro demo and even on the most basic of projects I'm getting repeated beach balls. Wondering if there is something I have setup wrong? Could it be a hardware problem? Catalina issue?

After some investigating it actually looks like a Mac OS issue not a Final Cut Pro issue linked with the 10th gen CPUs so please can everyone also submit a form for Mac OS and report it as a bug report and explain your issue

Here is a sample that I wrote:

There is an issue with MAC OS and the new 10th gen CPUs when using applications such as after effects and Final Cut Pro. There is clearly a bug that is causing this issue. It looks like it's linked to the GPU on these new 10th gen processors potentially with with the G7 graphics. please fix this problem as I'm sure you're aware that many customers are returning these MacBook pro's with these new 10th gen processors because they cannot use it with these Pro apps. I am using Mac OS Catalina 10.15.5

No, I dont have this issue, no fan noise, but the palm rest do get hot when in FCPX. IM editing a video right now and its a pain, so slow, always waiting for the spinning ball to be done. Up to a point I need to restart FCPX. Now the big decision, do I return it, my return window is closing in. If so I wont be able to edit videos anymore. Dont want to invest again in another editing software or spend more for the 16 inch, to big for us on our limited space.

Well, I have these spinning beach balls issues now and then too - on my MacBook Pro 16'' i9 8 Core 32GB RAM. Moving around the project, trimming etc. - beach balls for 10-20 sec with every movement. Computer restart helps. And after some time again. I already presented this problem here some time ago, even etrecheck was made but no issues found.

So I would suspect it is a kind of FCP bug that would be good to solve.

you are almost right. But what if they release a new update in a week? or in a month? Or in 2 months? 3? 4? We don't know! And I need to work!!!! I can't wait! I need at least iMovie... that in my case freezes in a couple of minutes basic editing. So... for now... if there is no problem like this with 8th gen I'd buy 8th....

But nobody can confirm me this so far...

And I know this is not the best value for money but at least I'll be able to do my job!
