All of a sudden all the old mail on my iPhone 11 Pro Max just stopped being listed in the ios
mail app. I just updated to iOS 13.5 but they were listed
after the update
they are being listed on my iPad Pro also running 13.5 and on my MacBook Pro running the 10.5.5 beta
i did a google search and tried a few things suggested but nothing has worked
anyone have any ideas?

Did you go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Tap the Mail Account and see if there is a setting for Mail Days to Sync. Perhaps the setting for mail days changed.
standard fix is delete the non icloud accounts in Settings, Passwords and accounts, and add them back.
For icloud just uncheck the mail option then check it back
I was hoping to avoid having to do that. Interestingly I just tried deleting one account but it’d hung trying to delete it as though the iPhone cant communicate with the imap server although my iPad an MacBook are working fine
yes and there wasn’t and even if there was it was working fine this morning and I didn’t modify anything
also I deleted my gmail I’d and it finally deleted. When I added it back the iPhone said it already existed even though it Wasn’t listed in either the mail app or accounts and passwords

yet if I go to the google web mail app everything is fine and it’s fine on my iPad and mac
Then go to Settings > Passwords & Account and add the google account back to your iPad.
It’s fine on my iPad and also on my Mac. What purpose would reinstalling it on the iPad do?

Yes but the account no longer existed after I deleted it.
what’s even weirder is after rebooting the iPhone I was able to add the gmail account back in but it’s not listed either in the iOS mail app or in accounts and passwords- even after rebooting the iphone
something is really messed up. I may have to restore the iPhone although I mAy wait a bit to see if it eventually fixes itself
It is not listed in the very place you added it? ie Settings , Passwords and accounts?
