Have the generation 1l airpods and the firmware is 6.8.8 . Been trying to get firmware upated to 2C54 and have left airpods connected to my iPad for the past week. Both plugged in and charging however the firmware has still not updated. Used this same method for successfully updating my 2nd Gen and Pro airpods - in both cases they updated within an hour or so.

I want update my AirPod 1 so how to update?
Well, have left my 1st generation AirPods on and charging for last two weeks and connected to my iPad which was also charging. AirPods firmware failed to update. Only conclusion I can come to is that firmware for 1st generation AirPods no longer updates even though research indicates there is an update from 6.8.8 to 2C54. Was hoping that updating firmware would fix problem with 1st generation AirPods losing phone calls after 10 minutes or so.

AirPods’ firmware will update automatically. You cannot invoke it manually. Please be patient.
Version 6.8.8 appears to be the latest version for 1st Gen AirPods
You can’t. Apple is pulling an Apple and 1st Gen is becoming obsolete to force the consumer to purchase newer versions.
