When I try to print an envelope from contacts it wants to print the last name first

When I try to print an envelope from contacts, in accordance with instructions from page 42 of the user guide and from the contacts help menu, it wants to print the last name first. Surly there is a way to change this as you would always want to print the first name first on the envelope.

I'm using Contacts 12.0 in macOS 10.15.4 and for me, changing Contacts > Preferences > Show First Name before Last Name or Following Last Name changes how it prints as well as how it is displayed in Contacts.

Just in case you didn't notice, there is a separate Preference for how they are sorted (i.e. you can sort them by Last Name but still show either First or Last Name first.

Yes I do. The way that it should work (and does work for me) is that you put the names in the designated space, you can then select in Preference whether you want to sort by First Name or Last Name and you can also select in Preferences how you want each Contact displayed in the list and when printing -- First Name first or Last Name first.

The sort by and the display order can be different.

Of course if you choose to display one way (e.g. Last Name first) and sort the other way (e.g. First Name first) it looks a little confusing in the list (at least it does to me).
