Overheating issues on iOS 13.5

I have been experiencing overheating on my iPhone 11 Pro Max after the iOS 13.5 update even with minimal usage (eg. Safari web browsing). Anyone else having this issue as well?

It is not clear here in your post about the ambient temperature in your area where you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...

Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

Heating issue on iOS 13.5 , upgrade each time new version is available, last update was yesterday to 13.6.1. Heating problem still persist when playing game of ToonBlast, jigsaw puzzle .... Or using Zoom. I recalled heating problem first get started when playing ToonBlast for more than an hour. Not sure if it is the cause of heating malfunction.

Hello, first post. I am also experiencing this issue on my good old pocket friendly iPhone SE (got it in 2016). I have tried all the suggestions without success. I had the battery replaced at the end of the replacement program, and I am at 96% battery health at the moment. Heats up like crazy while not using any apps. All background options that I could find are turned off.

One very interesting thing I notice, is that through an app I have called "Status", I can track graphically over time the resource usage of the CPU, Memory, Battery, and Storage.

When my phone gets real hot, the resource usage graph shows the CPU usage going up to about 50%, every time. I can do a hard shut down, and then the graph will show the usage down to about 5%, and it runs cool for a while. But inevitably, heats up again later. And like many of the other posts, it started soon after IOS 13.5, and is still happening under IOS 13.6. Matter of fact, I was monitoring the graph as I am typing this, and it jumped up to 50% without me touching the phone.

Same problem is happening for me. iPhone 11 Updated to 13.7, nothing. reset carrier settings, nothing. I live in Alaska my rooms ambient temp is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Daily temp 49degrees. No warnings from the phone yet but I have to catch it and manually cool it with my vehicle ac. Or a wrapped cold pack. When it heats up its almost too hot to touch.

So one of my friends is experiencing the same problem on an XR - runs hot and no battery life. She took it in to the Apple Store. This time Apple tried to blame her Otterbox case, saying it's not an Apple case so they can't be held responsible. Apple is coaching their service techs to give all these canned answers, which are getting more ridiculous as more people seem to be affected. You have to wonder how many phones are really affected! Is it so many phones that a company as rich as Apple can't afford to do the right thing and replace them? Or is it just that the financial guys have realized they can get away with anything and people will keep buying their products? Given that the latest iOS update didn't seem to help, one has to assume that the damage to the phone is physical and non-repairable, rather than just the usual iOS glitch. I've decided to try to sell mine and will have to decide on which way to go with the replacement.

I’ve had the problem ever since 13.5. I’m running a Beta version or iOS14 now, what have I got to loose. It still gets warm with simple tasks and it’s random with it. I hear people with 11Pros also experience the problem too. The problem is where do you go from here. Apple know an iPhone user is unlikely to jump to Android.

My phone is overheating as well. I have already replaced one because the side of the phone showed that it was so hot it discolored the casing. This is a dangerous situation. Be aware when phones get hot they can also catch on fire. I think there is something wrong with their batteries. I want a solution or we need to make them find one. I get nervous when my phone is so hot I can’t carry it.

I’m on iOS 14 with one app opened, Safari, to this site and the phone is overheating regularly to the point that the screen is hot to the touch to my fingers. It was working ok before the update with not much overheating.

I updated because XCode/MacOS on a MacBook griped that I needed to for control via Visual Studio on the Windows PC I use for development.
