Pro Display XDR with eGPU running AMD Radeon 5700 XT

Hi,

I have a Pro Display XDR and would like to drive it through an eGPU enclosure (running AMD Radeon 5700 XT) connected to my MBP. The eGPU enclosure is the SONNET eGFX Breakaway Box 650. The Pro Display XDR specification states that the display can be driven by a GPU that supports DP1.4 with DSC and FEC (https://www.apple.com/pro-display-xdr/pdf/Pro_Display_White_Paper_Feb_2020.pdf). The 5700 XT is supporting all of these features, so my understanding is that it should be capable of driving the display at full 6K 10bpc with a single cable.

However, the cable I tried with (DP to USB-C) does not even turn the display on. I would like to know which cable exactly will support this kind of setup?

Thanks!

The display wants " a GPU that supports DisplayPort over Thunderbolt or DisplayPort Alt-mode over USB-C".

Your DP to USB-C cable is for connecting a DisplayPort display to a computer's USB-C port. It doesn't work in reverse.

The only supported eGPU is the Blackmagic eGPU, which has Thunderbolt 3 ports.
