How to open embedded files in Word on an iPad? SOLVED
I am posting this as I was searching for this but couldn’t find the complete solution in one place, and after much digging into two different threads, I was ecstatic to find a work around! So here goes
- Essentially you need to open the file (in my case it was a word file) with embedded files in an app that allows you to change the file extension (the file app doesn’t allow you to do this) - so I tried “Documents” app by Readdle (make sure you have “show file extensions” enabled in the app settings
- in Documents change the file extension to .zip
- then open the newly named xx.zip file and you will find the embedded files under the “embeddings” subfolder in the unzipped folder
- you can either view the file in Documents app or open that file in an MS app to view and edit in all its MS glory
You are welcome! Actually thanks to other posters who posted different parts of the solution in different threads.
