You may be putting the case on the wrong way round. It often doesn’t stick if you have put it on the wrong way round. When attached to the iPad, the soft side of Smart Keyboard Case should be facing away from the iPad when in the open position (not in a standing position, just stowed behind the iPad)

No it's not, the only iPad Air which is compatible with a Smart Keyboard folio is the iPad Air 3rd generation
