FOURTEEN Duplicate address books on Mac Desktop hogging the CPU

I too have the problem of massive duplications of my address book only on my 2017 Mac desktop—Not on my iPhone, laptop or iPad. I’m talking over 52,000 duplicate entries!!! So doing a search/merge is not working. My computer moves slower than a caterpillar. I tried the solution suggested to Jupiter— have signed out of iCloud and moved to next steps. But none of the address book files exist in my HD Library that I’m supposed to delete, per his instructions. ???? I must resolve this and have been looking everywhere online for solution. Help please?!!

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

There is also free Malwarebytes which may take care of it...

Thank you. I just tried restarting In safe mode. I cannot tell if that’s helping. I ended up manually deleting multiple duplicate groups in Contacts until I got to the point that I could do a “detect duplicates/merge” process. Took a LONG time. There are still 3 duplicate address books but no duplicate groups or Individual contacts. My mac is working much faster now and the various contacts functions aren’t eating up CPU.

However, I still see contactsaccountsservice gobble up 80-90+% CPU Every once in a while tho amd The computer immediately hangs.

i’d like to know however how it got to this so it won’t happen again. Altogether, I found FOUR address books on my Mac, each with duplicate/Triplicate groups and each of those groups with duplicate/Triplicate entries! I have a substantial number of contacts in my address book, So all that duplicating was insane!!

Do you still want me to do the Etre report?
