Let me tell you that your answer is unhelpful, a cop-out and unproductive at least as it presupposes that most pc users are computer-illiterate when it comes to sorting out their pc issues.
That fact remains that most laptops now come with relatively small SSD's so saving the contents of one's 128GB iphone on this drive is not an option - unless of course Apple is wanting to promote their Cloud. In some countries the relatively small cost of additional iCloud storage is an unnecessary expense...
Nevertheless I have moved my Backup to my D drive by creating a link using DOS (remember DOS?), and this has freed up my SSD drive by some 50GB which is what I was asking you for advise on.
Kind regards

Hello AlanD-B,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you're wondering how to change the backup location for your iPhone on your Windows PC.
Changing the location for your iTunes Backup folder is not recommended, as mentioned here:
Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
"Though you can copy the Backup folder, you should never move it to a different folder, external drive, or network drive."
Take care.
