Mouse Keys keep resetting by themselves?

I now know that the Magic Keyboard doesn't work if Mouse Keys are checked. I know how to access that screen to uncheck the box to allow me to enter my name at login. However, it keeps happening. Each time I access the Mouse Keys screen, the field is checked again. So can anyone tell me why? Is there something in the login process which resets the Mouse Keys to be on?
