iphone 11 pm problems

Last night my iphone 11 pro max “froze” on an open app. I am unable to go home but I can turn the phone on and off and unlock it back to this page. I have tried a force shut down with the volume and power button but it is not working. I have also tried opening apps from notifications but no luck. I am able to access the camera from the lock screen but if I swipe up to go home I’m simply taken back to the lock screen. What do I do?
