Photos ?
I recently moved from Mojave to Catalina and i-Photo no longer works but I cannot find a copy of Photos for my desktop

The Photos.app is a part of the system.
Open the Applications folder on your Mac and look for the Photos.app. It should be preinstalled in Applications, if your Mac is running Catalina.
If you find Photos there, drag it to the Dock for easy access.
