Long story short, I don't have a recent backup with LPX 10.4.8 installed. Logic auto-updated to 10.5, and my projects have stopped playing after a few minutes of opening. Bug-ridden and unusable for me. I'm trying to find a way to downgrade back to 10.4.8. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Not if you don’t have a back up. I’m running/testing 10.5 and it’s certainly got some issues but it’s not unusable. Are you sure you can’t figure out if it’s some compatibility issue with your system??
Hundreds of LPX users are having the issue I'm describing currently. I've been systematically eliminating problem points, and it seems pretty much certain that it's a bug within the LPX architecture. Apple has no timeline for a fix. Support has exhausted every option. So if I can't roll back, I guess that means I'm totally at the mercy of the Logic engineers.
I can't think of anything else to do. I've been working on this problem all day everyday for the past 10 days. Switching OS's, re-installing everything... on and on. All in the middle of a 3-month album production, now completely bricked. Been a pro user for a decade, and I've had plenty of issues. But I've never been this stuck. Not even close.
@Iaamusic The transport controls quit working randomly after a few minutes of use. Specifically the "play" button. I'm utilizing a temporary workaround hitting "record" instead of "play", which for some reason seems to trick Logic into playing without issue. Obviously not ideal though. After a full day of hacking Logic this way though, I now think it's better not to roll back (assuming there's a fix in the next couple of weeks).
Well it’s not a “bug” on my 10.5 system as far as I can tell.
I’m assuming then you have done all the preferences resets/deletes, checked key commands, checked nothing sending erroneous midi sys ex, checking no spurious automation lanes, removing all usb/thunderbolt/WiFi connections during a test boot of your Mac?
I'm with you @jsdigital. I've been a Logic user over a decade and 10.5.1 is horrible. I've had 72 crashes in 3 days. Duplicating tracks brings up the spinning wheel, and eventually crashes. Kontakt 5 doesn't auto migrate to Kontakt 6. Loading any sounds within Omnisphere takes an age. Automation is buggy. I'm using a brand new Mac Pro with all new installs of everything. Catalina and Logic 10.51 does not work smoothly yet. Desperately trying to figure out how to downgrade to 10.4.8.
Why does anyone who wants a stable system of any kind (not just audio) have Auto-Update on in Preferences. Apple has become Big Brother and programmed it's user base to always upgrade to the latest and greatest. Take control of your machines people!
Yes, I feel your pain, especially after spending that amount of $$. I've made the update mistake a few years back and made a pledge to myself to not let Apple dictate upgrades, Logic is a complex program and Apple is releasing a new MacOS every year, Logic is always playing catch-up. Just when it gets solid... bam! New MacOS.
Have you had or use controllers for your transport?
if you use the space bar do you have any issues with play?

Don't suppose you have a macOS system backup? If you name add '10.5' to the new version and bring in the old one you can have both in the same Application folder. May I ask what's your producer name?

Yes, several. I have uninstalled all and tried w/o them; problem still occurs. Yes, issue occurs with both spacebar and 'play' button.
Have you reset controller assignments? If not do that.
Yes - I've done full, clean installs of everything and exhausted every option over the course of two weeks now. It's a Logic bug. They're working on it.
Very true. Unfortunately, it was a new Mac Pro so my only options were starting on Catalina, and 10.5.0 (Logic).
