Tiny video messages

my daughter regularly sends me videos of my granddaughter. She and I both have iPhones she has iPhone X and I have the iPhone 11. Most of the time - maybe 95% of the time there are no problems. But sometimes the video shows up as a tiny thumbnail sized video. Still plays and the sound is normal, but super tiny. Tapping it doesn’t make it any bigger. When I ask her to resend it, it works fine. We sometimes share videos in a 3-way group message with my other daughter on her iPhone 11 and on one instance both my daughter (iPhone 11) and I (iPhone 11) got the same thumbnail video from my first daughter (iPhone X); but weirdly, today when I got another thumbnail video (from iPhone X), my other daughter (iPhone 11) received the same group message video normally-sized.

Hi there Lynne922,

It sounds as though that you're receiving videos as thumbnail images intermittently. I understand wanting to be able to view these videos in full size, and I'd be happy to help.

First, try and restart your iPhone and test to see if the issue remains. If so, next step would be to make sure that you're using the most recent version (13.5) of software on your iPhone.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you go through these steps and the issue remains, please consider including the following details in your reply:

Does this happen with videos sent from all contacts?
