No text sound on iPhone while MacBook is open

I've seen this question more than several times with the same "generated" answer but that's not the solution - at least not for me.

I'm on the iPhone XS and MacBook is updated to Catalina 10.15.5 but this issue has been going on for over a year.

I do not have continuity turned on nor delivery quietly or do not disturb on. Other than turning off or deleting Messages from my MacBook is there any other solution? And if that's actually the solution let me know but only from a trusted source, please.

Hello ferretless

Lets do a checklist of some troubleshooting on the iPhone;

If notifications aren't being received on the iPhone, check the Settings > Notifications: Change notification settings on iPhone, in some cases turning the notification off and on will resolve the issue.

If everything is set in Notifications, power the iPhone On and Off.

Next would be a "Reset All Setting" this will reset the Notifications. Note, this will Reset will remove, Home/Lock Screen, Touch/Face ID, Passcode, Wi-Fi Passwords, and Customize Settings. Setting > General > Reset All Settings

Before going into software troubleshooting, a back up of the data on the device would be encourage to iCloud or iTunes: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Cheers!

Hello!

From what I'm understanding is you're are unable to get notifications on your iPhone XS when the MacBook is in uses, correct?

Here is an article on changing preferences in Messages on the MacBook: Change General preferences in Messages on Mac

Which device Messages is logged on and which device is being used, will default to the device that gets the sound notifications. Notification alerts will appears on both devices: Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Hopefully this helps!

Cheers!

Hello, thank you for the quick reply.

Correct, the sound for the notification on my iPhone XS and even the screen does not light up when getting a message if I'm on my laptop. I've actually had my notification sounds on the MacBook turned OFF for years so while I understand that might be the "answer" it's not the case for me.

I didn't want my laptop to give off notification sounds or popups but I'm now allowing it because I can't seem to find a resolution.

Thanks for the help though.

Hi thanks for the response but this is not an answer to what the issue is.

A product feedback on the phone wouldn't do much good as I'm stuck with this phone until I'm able to upgrade (which I'm hoping will remedy this situation) but I'm still not getting notifications. As of yesterday, my laptop wasn't even open and I checked my phone after an hour and there were texts on my phone that I received no sound or notification on.
