Apple Watch 5 Facebook Messenger

So I recently purchased an apple 5 watch . I’ve uploaded all my apps. Facebook messenger is giving me issues though . When I open the app from my watch it says Log in from paired iPhone . I’m logged in on my I phone and on my Apple Watch app. When someone messages me on the app and my phone is locked I receive it on my watch But when I got to reply it’s says log in from paired iPhone . When I try to browse my messages through the watch it doesn’t allow me. It just reads log in from the paired iPhone . I’ve uninstalled the app from my watch , from my phone . Reinstalled both, restarted both, toggled blue tooth on and off , there both up to date . Is there anything else I can do ? Have I missed something ? Thank you

I was having this problem too and it randomly started today (May 31st). I even contacted apple support (they couldn't help because it's a third party app). Here's how I fixed it:

  1. Make sure your watch and your phone are up to date.
  2. Delete the app from the watch (on the watch itself and not through the app on your phone).
  3. Delete the app from your phone.
  4. Make sure automatic app install is off in the watch app.
  5. Re-download the app on your phone.
  6. Re-download the app on your watch (through the app store on the watch itself and not through your phone).
  7. With the messenger app open on your watch (and displaying the "log in from paired iPhone" message), open the app on your phone and sign in. I got a little spinning wheel on my watch and then I was logged in on both.

Hope this helps!

Hi! I agree to @heyoitsme post but I did a little bit different way to do it as it didn’t work on me the first time. First, I unpaired my apple watch from my iphone in the My watch app setting on the phone. Second, I paired them again and click “restore from backup” not the “set as new apple watch” in the phone. Then after it is paired, I followed @heyoitsme steps. Then boom! It finally worked!

What they have suggested on top have all worked for me not until messenger asked me to update my phone number then I checked my iwatch and it says “log in from the paired iphone” again. I tried to do the same process again but the second time has no luck. Hopefully this bug be fixed sooner as this is so frustrating.

Don't give up.. I repeatedly did this as instructed above probably a dozen times and it finally worked using this adjusted set from above

" Uninstall the app on both your watch and phone

Turn off automatic app download on your watch app

update your phones software

down load the app onto your watch via the watch itself

download the app onto your phone again via the App Store

open the app on your watch and You will get the message again that says “log in with paired iPhone”

go on to messenger on your phone and log back in (don’t use automatic login - click on “this isn’t me” and log on manually”

Your watch app should now be working"

I use messenger all the time getting notifications off my watch so just could not go to bed tonight without it working.

I know.. you will want to SCREAM like everyone here..... but you can do this. Be Safe...

paired phone, force close the app in the apple watch.

open messenger app in iphone. Delete and reinstall it. During log in, Instead of “Continue as” sign in option use its not me sign in method by giving your ID and Password.

Now open the messenger app in watch.

when you reopen the messenger app in phone at any time, if it asks for your phone no, you dont input it. Leave it and continue.

It will work fine in your watch. Hope it helps.

Hello Connor and thank you for your response! I wasn’t reaching out to you or to Apple. I was responding to someone who posted an option that they tried that worked for them. I tried it also and did not have success. If you read my WHOLE comment you would have seen where I said that I did reach out to Facebook but they haven’t responded. I am not bashing Apple in any way. Also, you may want to contact everyone else on this thread who commented with things that did or didn’t work and let them know your very helpful til also. Have a great day!

1) Uninstall messenger on iphone

2) Open messenger on Apple Watch, Should Say Login From Paired iPhone

4) Reinstall on Messenger on Iphone while watch Messgenger is open.

5) Login and Accept prompt on Watch to receive Notifications.
